Sanctity of Life
Each human being is made in the image of God. Every life is precious, every life has a purpose, and every life is worth defending. Whether it’s the unborn baby, the pregnant mother, the child in foster care, or the elderly hospice patient, the government should ensure that everyone is free to live out their God-given purpose.
Alliance Defending Freedom works alongside millions of other pro-life Americans to ensure that life is protected. Life is a human right, and it must be safeguarded.
How do we defend your rights?
In the courtroom, the legislature, and the public square, ADF works to protect unborn life, oppose assisted suicide, and defend ministries that provide real help to women.
We defend life-affirming laws supporting women and protecting their unborn children. Life begins at conception, and states have a compelling interest in protecting unborn babies at every stage of development.
We stand against assisted suicide. Activists brand this disturbing practice as “death with dignity,” but the truth is that assisted suicide targets the sick and vulnerable. The lives of the elderly, the terminally ill, and the disabled deserve a defense.
We support organizations that provide care for new mothers and their children, defending the rights of these ministries to operate according to their beliefs and free from government harassment.
The first word in our name—alliance—is purposeful. ADF partners with likeminded organizations, policymakers, and front-line advocates to strengthen the pro-life alliance.
We don’t just talk. We win. ADF has won nearly 80% of our cases, and our attorneys even served on the Mississippi legal team that overturned Roe v. Wade.
We tirelessly defend those on the front lines: sidewalk counselors, pregnancy centers, and others.
We equip an alliance to advocate for life in communities across the country.
Legal Cases
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization
After nearly 50 years, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, returning the power to protect life to the people and their elected lawmakers.
Obria Group v. Ferguson
Washington’s attorney general is harassing a network of pregnancy centers with unreasonable and unjustified civil investigative demands because they serve pregnant women but do not perform abortions.
Planned Parenthood Arizona v. Mayes
ADF stepped up to defend an Arizona law protecting life from the moment of conception. The Arizona Supreme Court upheld the law, ruling that the state may once again fully protect life.

Learn More About Life
What Does It Mean to Be Pro-Life?
It’s not just unborn children whose lives are in dire need of protection. ADF is committed to fostering a culture of life in which the dignity of all human beings—the unborn, the elderly, the terminally ill, and the disabled—is equally protected under the law.
What Is Assisted Suicide, and Why Should You Care About It?
Assisted suicide is neither compassionate nor an appropriate solution for those who are suffering. Laws that legalize assisted suicide facilitate a culture of death that is hard to stop once it starts.
No, Treatment for an Ectopic Pregnancy Is Not an Abortion
By falsely equating ectopic pregnancies and abortion, activists are both endangering women and belittling their experiences.
