President Trump issues executive order protecting premature babies, those born-alive after attempted abortions

“Every human life is valuable, and every single baby deserves to be protected. While we are disappointed that Congress has failed to provide adequate legal protection for babies who survive abortions, we commend the White House for taking action to protect these children. We’ve heard tragic stories from medical professionals about babies left to die after attempted abortions, but we’ve also heard stories of hope and healing from survivors. This proposed order is designed to help make those hopeful stories more common and clarify the duty of care that medical professionals owe infants. We continue to respectfully urge our leaders in public office to affirm the basic human rights of vulnerable children—born and unborn.”
